Hosanna in the Highest!
How wonderful it is to welcome the King of Kings and Lord of Lord's. On that day that we refer to as the triumphant entry, Jesus was finally meeting expectations. He was claiming to be the King and taking his place in Jerusalem. It's what we all want and only when we acknowledge that, will we understand the journey of the people in what we now call Holy week.
This week we will offer meditations on the Passion of Jesus known as the Stations of the cross. We will recall the Last Super on Wednesday and Maundy Thursday that focuses on the washing of eth disciples feet on Thursday morning and evening. On Friday we will gather to do vigil and a guided meditation on thecrucified Christ. I encourage you to come with a bible and notebook. It will be an interactive Contemplative service.
I encourage you to do the Stations of the Cross on Monday and/or Tuesday. I also have some room in the car, for one or two people should you wish to attend the Chrism Eucharist on Wednesday - it means an early start but it is worth it to attend this special service.
I transition from Lent to Holy week with these words of St Paul.
10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.12 Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13 When God's people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don't be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all!
17 Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18 Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. ( Romans 12:10-18)
May the Lord set your hearts on fire with love for Him, for each other, and for all creation.
